Another Sunday and another walk around the fastest town in Scotland - Naaaaiiiirrrrrnnnn!
This time we went from the Links along the beach by the golf course and then up through Delnies woods. We had a very pleasant day and it wasn't too far for us all to travel - except for Sharon and I, that is. We had gone away to Fort Augustus for a romantic evening to celebrate Sharon's birthday I had asked Dave to pick something not too far away so that we could have a leisurely breakfast and then join everyone for the walk. So he picked this walk! Any student of geography will realise that Nairn is to the east of Inverness, whilst Fort Augustus is a good distance to the south-west! Dave was a PE teacher, which explains everything. Still we made it in time.
We soon got underway and Maureen was especially happy to get going.
We were obviously going at some pace as you can see from the two panting old men.
Or was it that they were just following a bevy of beauties?
We didn't have any dogs with us and we decided to ignore the second request on this sign. We did, however, keep to the designated pathways, despite Dave's lack of geographical knowledge.
Well, actually Hugh did seem to want to wander of the path at one point, although that might have had something to do with searching for the balls he lost when last playing golf here. Pam said she had kept them in the jar in the kitchen where they always were.
Mac heard that and decided to sit on his stones.
Meanwhile, Sharon unwrapped something that Jacque wasn't too sure about, but it seemed to amuse Ann.
Then we had to cross a fence with some style. Of course, not everyone exhibited the same degree of style as this little sequence shows.
Except for me, of course!
Not quite what the second instruction on the sign had in mind, I think, but a pile of steaming dung!
The long and not so winding road.
Then it was time for a picnic in the woods, where Sharon opened up the champagne I had considerately laid on especially for her!I am pretty sure that this is Dave peeling a boiled egg - but he does seem to be very happy about it.
Hugh has a drink while Pam is looking then other way - I seem to recall he did that once before - it doesn't look like lager, but....
Jacque adjusts her teeth - it surely wasn't a foreign body in the Marks and Spencer sandwich.
Dave's egg (if, indeed it was an egg) is grabbed by a mysterious pair of hands - much to his surprise, I bet.
Here we all are - looking remarkably good, I think.
Then it all descended into chaos - a clear lack of leadership.
We didn't think this applied to us as there were 14 of us.
Some birds on the beach - you can tell it isn't St Tropez! Some old, slightly deaf guy on the beach who misunderstood the birds on the beach bit.
And then we were back to the cars and off for some tea and cakes.
A very pleasant walk nearly properly organised by Dave and Sandra. Next we are off to Ullapool for a couple of days.
