BARRED FROM NAIRN....AND SO THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN!
Surprisingly, Sharon and I could not make this walk at the Old Bar near Nairn. I say surprising, because I try not to miss too many trips to the bar, however, we were on holiday. This means I have had to make up a story to go with the photos sent to me by Jim and Robin - thanks to them for that. This is so much more difficult than when you have been on the walk and can merely report the facts as they happened as I always try to do.
Anyway, here is the small, but select, band getting ready to go...at least I hope that is what Robin is doing. As you can see, it wasn't the best of weather, but nothing would dampen their spirits.
Anyway they endeavoured to persevere (that's a line from a favourite film of mine - a half pint if you can tell me what it is).
And here are the ladies putting a brave face on it and, almost, singing in the rain - another film - perhaps that should be the theme for the rest of the blog.

Goldilocks and the three bears, perhaps - I know that's a book, but there is bound to be a film as well. Otherwise there might be a film called "The Stalker"

The French Connection.
The Lizard.
And if you don't believe me that there is a film called The Lizard here is a review of the film!
Plot - A rough tongued jailbird escapes from prison disguised as a Mullah, and is mistaken for a saint by the flock of a local village.
Verdict - Subversive stuff, at once tempering it's own lampooning of the clergy and establishment with an assured character arc in its central performance.

I wonder which of the dinosaurs could play a rough old jailbird - answers on a postcard please.
The Wild Geese - starred Roger Moore (could be me).

The Beach - Leonardo DiCaprio - I could play him.

4,3,2,1 - honest - I looked it up on the net and there is a film called that. The plot, such as it is is given below the photo.
A group of dinosaurs meet for a coffee-shop gossip, only to become embroiled in a cross-continental caper of diamond-smuggling, internet sex and painful secrets.
Sounds exactly like one of our walks.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
An Autumn Tale.
October Sky - I know it was September, but somehow it fits when you read the review under the photo.
Bhaji on The Beach - bet you've never heard of this one - well you will realise it fits when you read the review!

Shot in ten days and made collectively by the D-Generation comedy team — a group formed at university who have become popular innovators in Australian radio and TV — this is inanity elevated to a jubilantly funny and optimistic fable, beautifully acted with unflagging sincerity.
This may be inanity, but you could never call it elevated to being jubilantly funny.
An Autumn Tale.

This is apparently about a winemaker who finds herself caught up in matchmaking set-up.
Who makes these films, I can hear you say?
Eric Rohmer is the answer.
In a Lonely Place - which was Humphrey Bogart ( could be played by me) film for those old enough to remember.
Walking and Talking - see below the photo for the review

Only once dipping into huggy sentimentality, we are happily spared the run-of-the-mill best mates saga the premise threatens. Instead this is a deeper and wonderfully engrossing picture with characters easy to sympathise with.
Couldn't have put it better myself.
October Sky - I know it was September, but somehow it fits when you read the review under the photo.

3 West Virginia schoolkids see Sputnik overhead and opt for the space race rather than a life of coalmining.
Bhaji on The Beach - bet you've never heard of this one - well you will realise it fits when you read the review!

A group of women descend on Blackpool for a day out where they begin to realise they have more in common than it first appears. Considering the group consists of bitter old women, gaudy middle aged ladies and hormonal teenagers is quite an achievement.
OK, there are no hormonal teenagers here but....
Well I had fun doing this and I hope the walkers had fun despite the Perfect Storm ( George Clooney - could be me).
Thanks to Robin and Jim for the photos and look forward to the next walk.
Film reviews were taken from Empireonline.
