THE PORTMAHOMACK PLOD

The May walk revisited one of our first ever walks at Portmahomack lighthouse. I was not on the walk so none of the photos are mine - as you can probably tell. All the words are mine and I have fabricated all of them myself. I will apologise in advance.

I got photos from Hugh and Robin. Hugh's photos were interesting but did not actually contain any people - except for the first one here. As you can see the people involved were very far away from Hugh. This may be because his conversation was poor or else he needs to change his after-shave.

He did, however, take quite a nice picture of this colourful little bothy on the shore.

He also took this picture looking over the firth to the coast of Caithness and Sutherland, I think.

Then as they approached the lighthouse he took this nice shot.

Again, no people!

Things became altogether more civilised for a while - a nice shot of Balloan Castle - I know the people who stay there as it happens!

Next we move onto Robin's photos - these were a bit more people-friendly and they lend themselves to a bit more inuendo - so here goes!

This is a photo of Miss Collective Farm 1207 from Siberia in 1963.

And here is Olga looking cheekily at the gear levers.

And this is a shag.

As always there had to be a lunch photo and this is it. They all look very relaxed. You can tell this is not one of Hugh's pictures because there are people in it! It is also helpful as it provides a log of who actually went on the walk, otherwise we might never have known.

A fine foursome against a background of prickly gorse into which it looks like Jim backed too far.

And at the end of the land we come to the lighthouse which looks pretty good against the sea and the sky.

It looks as if they all had a good time, but looks can be deceiving, at least they are if you listen to the tales some of them had to tell after the walk.

Back to the car park where this rather nice car was parked. I haven't got a clue what make and model it is, but my guess is it is younger than some of the dinosaurs! If Charlie reads this he can always let us know.

Well done to everyone who took part and we look forward to the next walk.
