A load of Boules in July
The July walk was a break with tradition. Due to a petanque championship at the Smith household on Bastille Day, combined with a visit to Inverness by the Plonker in the Park (Elton John) the walk was moved from the usual date to the next week. This made no difference to the weather - it still ended up wet. Indeed, you will have noticed that there was no June walk - and this was due to yet another wet weekend in the Highlands.
So, back to July. With the change in date, some of us could not make it due to other commitments. Some even had work to go to. Sharon had hurt her back, so could not go, which meant Bob had to stay and look after her - besides it looked like it was going to rain.
As it happens it did rain - quite a lot, I understand. Worse than the rain, the midges were out in force - Dave seems to be good at picking the walks with the midges.
Anyway because I was not there there are almost no photos of the walk. What one there is, is very good. It shows Dave and Sandra on a bridge too far. I know it is difficult to tell, but it is them, honest. Sluggan Bridge is a really fine bit of Highland history, but I am not going to bore you with that...........
Still, someone told me summer was going to take place on one weekend in August - and that weekend was the one due for the walk - so here's to the next one.
