THE SANTA SAUNTER
The Santa Saunter involved a fairly short walk around the Cawdor woods ending up at the Tavern for Christmas lunch - hats and crackers and all. Even Santa turned up, but as it was a secret, there are no photos of him. A really good time was had by all and thanks go to the Smiths and the Marwicks for the organisation and the hospitality on the day.
Whilst you cannot really see it on the photo, there is a holly tree with red berries in the photo and, as it is Christmas-time, these must be angels!

No-one knows how many angels you can fit on the head of a pin - but you can get 17 dinosaurs on a bridge.

The primordial forest - hard to believe it is so close to civilisation - or at least, Cawdor village.

Out of the gloom and into the sun and we find the Castle - no sign of the thane, but I suspect there are one or two witches about.

Hard to believe that we were not allowed in to the castle - I can't understand why.

Even though he didn't go on the walk we had to take pity on this weird guy we found in the pub car park and we invited him to lunch.

Once again we ended up at the pub - but this time we were having our Christmas lunch - and very good it was too.

As always there is a reckoning to be had and here is Hugh doing the reckoning. Given his current circumstances, it was all we could do to stop him actually smelling the money!

Well that is a whole year of walks - each one different, but all of them most enjoyable. Here's looking forward to next year!
