THE OCTOBER ODYSSEY

The October Odyssey - and what a glorious undertaking it was - through the Rothiemurchus Pine Forest to the Lodge and almost to the mouth of the Lairig Ghru. ! The weather was fabulous and the views were stunning - some of the chat wasn't too bad either. Seriously though, this may have been the best walk yet, due to the combination of location and weather - well done Dave and Sandra. Dave for the route and Sandra for the sunshine. This is us setting off on the grand adventure.

Here we are crossing a bridge, which was not quite too far - although for some it would feel that way on the return journey.

Lunch at Rothiemurchus Lodge - and a special muffin for Sandra. Only one candle on it, so you could not guess her age unless you knew that the other 59 were in the box.

Walking out over the moor towards the far end of the walk - fantastic!

At the far end of the walk - some stunning views into the mouth of the Lairig Ghru. I wanted to carry on through, but I wasn't allowed.

On the way back down and we stopped for a quick photo-opportunity at Picadilly - a meeting of paths rather than a meeting of minds.

And as usual........we ended up at the pub, where some proper mountain men took the photo. They were from, if you can believe it, the Nuneaton Mountaineering Club!

THE SEPTEMBER SIZZLE

The September walk was a walk with a difference - and the difference was lunch!! This was a walk with a barbecue in the middle. We walked from Findhorn to Roseisle, where we had the barbecue. Then after we were well and truly sated we left for Burghead through the woods and then back by the seashore to Roseisle to pick up the transport.

The weather was really good, but the sausages and burgers were better!

As you can see the weather was really nice - big blue skies and the rolling sea - there were even people in for a swim. We did not join them.

But soon we had left the bustle of Findhorn behind and were striding out along the beach.

And so to lunch.................................

Barbecues - they're a man thing!!

Tablecloths - they're a woman thing!!

Eventually we got to sit down and eat - and so far as we know there were no ill effects apart from Robin sustaining a burnt leg from an upset sausage.

As always we had to end up in the pub and very good it was too. Another great walk and well done to Susan and Robin for thinking it up and sorting it out.
